Back on the overpass, Rai started to remove the battery from the trunk as I surveyed the town. I let my eyes flow across the blasted landscape, over the torn roads, and under the collapsed bridge. Screams could be heard from inside of a nearby building, across the street from the demolished art studio. I shouldered my MP5 and sighted down at the building. I saw a burst of red light flash through the building. Slowly, a red orb raised above the window.
